JOB DESCRIPTION:

Explore has two open positions for either our Twin Cities or Marshall, MN offices for a Software Developer, as a result of our continued growth. These positions will be responsible for creating, installing and maintaining newly created business systems while completing corresponding documentation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work primarily with immediate supervisor, project team, and internal business users on the Government Solutions team.
  • Adhere to coding and methodology standards and best practices and using source code control systems.
  • Provide solutions to problems relating to both customer and product support.
  • Well-rounded in skill-set; Database structures and query abilities, Middle Tier/n-tier component development, User interfaces - web and/or windows interfaces, web services.
  • Some travel may be required for installation and support of the systems.
  • Agile development methodology.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field; or equivalent education and/or work experience in a technology role.
  • 2 years working in Object-Oriented development language.
  • 2 years experience with relational database.
PREFERRED:
  • 5 years C#
  • 5 years SQL Server 2000/2005/2008
  • Microsoft Office

Database Administrator

Explore currently has an opening for a Database Administrator (DBA). The DBA will help our expanding development staff with database design, development and ongoing maintenance. The ideal candidate would have a great attitude, a willingness to learn existing systems and the ability to offer guidance on future systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain all enterprise databases to ensure integrity, performance, accessibility, and recoverability of data. Scope includes stage, QA, and production environments
  • Provide leadership role in planning, design, implementation, and documentation of Microsoft SQL Server environments
  • Develop maintenance and backup procedures, change control processes, and operational documentation
  • Assist application development teams with planning and implementing database changes and assisting with query optimization
  • Implement and perform capacity planning, performance monitoring, and reporting processes
  • Mentor other team members
  • Use repeatable practices to ensure data availability, integrity, security, and database performance
  • Ensure that data is stored efficiently and accessed effectively
  • Assist with performance tuning of applications and queries
  • Ensure recoverability of data by developing, managing, and testing backup and recovery plans
  • Work closely with development to refine the physical design of the data model
  • Perform research on database features, tools, and new database technologies
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree with related coursework or work equivalent
  • 5 or more years related work experience
  • Knowledge of and experience with database administration principles and best practices
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005/2008
  • The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in the operation of a personal computer in a Windows environment to include the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency in data replication and Data Transformation Services
  • Familiarity with query and database optimization

Sr. Desktop Support Consultant (Minneapolis, MN)

The Sr. Desktop Support Consultant will execute, and in some cases, lead various projects that center around the effective delivery of client systems and applications. The following breakdown identifies the mix of activities expected for the person in this role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Respond to and process requests for support from the Service Desk or second-level Desktop Support Technicians • Provide technical leadership in the areas of Microsoft SCCM and SCOM systems • Develop, package, and test operating system images and applications • Authors and provides user instruction as needed • Researching, evaluating and providing feedback on problematic trends and patterns in customer support requirements • Providing customer and technical training, when required • Performs other duties as assigned DESIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & OTHER SKILLS: • BE or BS Degree in one of the following subject areas: Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Technology or related field preferred • Industry best practices in terms of implementation and operations of proposed solutions • Expert-level understanding and delivery of Virteva’s processes • Background and/or certifications in ITIL, COBIT, or CMMI • Ability to communicate, mentor, teach, and explain concepts at multiple levels with the capability to extract the business value related to the proposed solutions • Knowledge of Apple Macintosh software support and delivery a plus • Microsoft Certificated Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) certificate or equivalent • 3+ years of experience focusing on the technology or equivalent • Consulting experience a plus
